Learning Objectives

To provide a comprehensive and holistic understanding of how the general well barrier principles covered in chapter 5 of the D-010 standard are applied in drilling operations, commencing with spudding of the well and concluding with preparation for completion, testing or abandonment activities.

Who Should Attend?

Drilling and completion, well testing, well intervention and production operations personnel working in the design, construction, operations, servicing, and abandonment phases of both onshore and offshore wells.

Course Outline

This course covers the following topics: 

• Well barriers
• Casing design
• Well control
• Shallow hazards
• Pore pressure
• Wellbore surveying and trajectories
• Well barrier elements used in drilling

Upon completion of the course, students will be able to have an in-depth understanding of the performance requirements relating to well barriers and elements used in drilling which will provide the basis for understanding further aspects of the standard including completion, well testing, production, abandonment and wireline and coiled tubing intervention.

Course Structure

The course is an on-demand e-learning course. The course content is presented in English, delivered by Terje Løkke-Sørensen, a well-seasoned drilling, well integrity and well control expert who is well positioned to share knowledge, insights, and real-life accounts of effective well integrity management.
